"We had a score to settle and we came out
swinging . . ." commented Coach of the Pack,
Scotty Plunkett, as his team made the No-shows wish
they hadn't shown up.
Even though his quarterback, Elway, from the
Denver area scored once, the rest of his team showed
their support by almost doubling their opponent's
measly score of 16. Only 3 players of the No-shows
kept the team from getting shut out, and they able to
hang on to at least second place with Coach Wagner's
Roughers nipping at Coach Christine's heels.
It has been a while since this reporter has seen a
comeback like that of the Pack, which was battling
for every point that their kicker and quarterback
could get. Now his whole team is getting in on the
action. His re-acquired quarterback, Testaverde,
seems to be getting a lot of rest playing for Coach
Plunkett while Vinnie battles to get into the end of
the flu.
Coach Plunkett has a tough game to consider next
week against the Papa's, Coached by Mr. Robertson.
Coach Plunkett said, " . . . if the momentum can
carry us over this next hump, then we should have a
shot at the whole thing."
Coach Robertson thought that the coach of the Pack
was getting carried away in other fantasies besides
football as he responded, "If this was real
football we know whom the winner would be!" It
has been rumored that there is a disagreement between
his running back, Emmett Smith of Dallas, and Coach
Robertson. This may be the reason for Emmett's poor
participation by only accomplishing two touchdowns so
far this season. Will Coach Robertson trade him or
keep him around so he can win the "Worst pick of
the Year" Award.
When asked about Coach Plunkett's chance of coming
out of this season with the championship award, Coach
of the Reddog Rougher's, Michael Wagner, commented
"He sure does sound confident but the Roughers,
no matter what injuries we may have, are not going to
be so easy to sluff off. Our key players, Jabbar and
Gallaway, are just waiting for a chance to plunder
the Pack. Also, Dilfer seems to have a score to
settle. We are not even worried about them playing
Testaverde during week 13 when we play them."
Coach Plunkett also wanted us to remember to catch
a glimpse of his cheerleaders, the Plunk-ettes.
However, he never shows them off in public. This
publication has asked repeatedly for a shot of them
in action. Coach Plunkett was over heard saying,
" . . .I think the support they (Plunk-ettes)
have given our boys (team?) these last few weeks have
contributed greatly to our success."
"We are in negotiation with our agent, Mr.
McGuire, to acquire a new half time show in time for
the play-offs." Commented Wagner. "Right
now the choices have been narrowed to either a
bullfrog quartet featuring the Bud Frogs or the Dr.
Joe's barbershop quartet rendition of the theme from
the Mickey Mouse Club."
I don't know about you guys but I'll be tuning in
to the Plunk-ettes if Coach Plunkett ever decides to
show them off. I think every team could use a
Plunk-ett, especially the Cheeseheads. Maybe Coach
Plunkett would lend them a few to allow them a chance
to get out of the gutter of the division.
