Roughers, Gorillas Tie . . . What Now?!

Questions arose when the Reddog Roughers and Glenn’s Gorillas tie in the first round of the playoffs.

“What is the deciding factor? And Does the playoffs count as wins in the rankings for next week?” Asked Coach Wagner.

Depending how these two questions are answered by the Commish, will determine the playoffs for next week. If the tie breaker makes Roughers the victors then they will now be ranked above No-Shows as second in the league. Does this mean he would play Papa’s next week as well as Plunks Pack?

“We both can’t play the Pack next week! But I think my team would have a much easier time defeating them than the Gorillas if you look at our track record with the Coach Plunkett’s team. Also if you remember, the Commish stated that all ties would be decided by the total points which means I win.” Commented Coach Wagner.

On the other side of the playoffs, Papa’s squeeze by the cheesiest team in the league by one point.

“I would demand an official ruling by the commish on this one.” Added Coach Wagner as he once again has no faith in this publications records.

If all else stays as it is and the Roughers stay on their own side of the fence in the playoffs, then Papa’s must beat Coach Christine’s No-Shows to be elgible for the championship. Stay tuned for updates and rulings on this matter!!!

AFT Rankings:

  • Pack 9-6-0
  • Roughers 8-5-2 (If you use the Total Points as tie breaker for playoffs)
  • No Shows 8-6-1
  • Papa’s 6-8-1 (Only because of being the highest scoring team in the league)
  • Cheeseheads 6-8-1
  • Gorillas 5-9-1 (If you use the Total Points as tie breaker for playoffs)

Regular season - week 15

It doesn't get any messier than this. Week 15 is over and what do we know. Cheeseheads beat the Pack 28-12; Papas are victorious over the No-shows 35-22; and The Roughers and Gorillas tie at 26

So the final standings are

  • P. Pack 9-6-0 .600
  • No Shows 8-6-1 .567
  • R. Roughers 7-6-2 .533
  • Cheeseheads 7-7-1 .500
  • Papas 6-8-1 .433
  • Gorillas 5-9-1 .367

PLAYOFFS

So the play-offs (wild card week) started like this

     R. Roughers (26)
         vs R. Roughers
     Gorillas (26)
                          vs R. Roughers

                        P. Pack

                                       vs - TIE-Finale
     Cheeseheads (28)
         vs Papas
     Papas (35)
                         vs No-shows

                        No-Shows

The Cheeseheads made a great run at the end of the season. However, they ran into a quarterback in Pittsburgs Stewart who became a one-person show.

What about the Roughers and the Gorillas - Who wins? As I never thought it would come to this, I never mentioned it, but in the first two weeks of the playoffs you use sudden death. The first team who scores will go on to meet the Pack. The other is left home. The papers publish the time of the scoring so it makes it real interesting. The only time this doesn't work is during the our last week (there isn't another regular season game to go into).

Note- In my past leagues we only used sudden death in playoff weeks because of the hassle in doing this. If we want next year, we could use it for every week.

So Scott, you just have to wait to see which one of us dumps you next week.

Signing off,

The Commish.
