Plunk's Pack Pre-Draft

Rating: PG

Plunk's Pack stands ready a week early with his draft choices.

If you see Coach Plunkett online Monday night sitting alone in the AFT chatroom, it is because he jumped the gun. An anonymous source revealed that the coach of the Pack would be ready and waiting for his turn in the draft a week early.

Coach Plunkett must either be very secure with his choices to have picked his team before he saw the preseason game of his Bronco quarterback, Elway, or trying out for the role as the absent-minded professor out there in California.

"Don't let Coach Plunkett fool you," Comment Coach Wagner, "He knows what he is doing. I think it is great strategy. He is trying to make the other coaches worry with his confidence. I wish I would have thought of it first."

Coach Wagner could be right. Coach Plunkett is trying to make us believe that someone can be that forgetful. Just a couple of days ago, Coach Plunkett corrected this report in an email that read:

"...The draft is being tentatively scheduled for Monday, August 31, 1998 at 6:30p.m. (CST) / 4:30p.m. (EST) at Coach Glenn's house or through the chat room at www.ionet.net/~warwick.... ...the time sounds fine except that it is 4:30 western time zone not eastern. See you in the chat room.... ...scott..."
Coach Wagner said, "You got to get up a hell of a lot earlier to pull the wool over these eyes."

The draft is being held at the Commissioner's house on AUGUST 31 (next Monday) at 6:30p.m. CST(4:30p.m. PST).

The Commish seems to be having second thoughts about the "Rookie Ruling" giving the rookie first pick in the draft in return for past coaches to reserve one old player.

Dear League,

First order of business - # of players to protect
Second order = how new team owner gets into the league

Choices

1. The new team owner begins with Jennifer's team. Her draft position would be based on Jennifer's record.

2. The new team owner gets one draft pick after all players have been protected . Then new team gets a draft pick, typically the last in first round. This means 1st pick in second round, etc.

3. Other possibilites can be raised from the floor.

The Commish

This reporter searched and searches for an answer to the new ruling. What was he thinking?

"When I made my initial ruling, I was thinking about adding new teams. This will be a vote of all the team owners before we begin the draft.", commented the Commish.

"I think choice #1 would be the easiest especially since Jennifer had the #1 rated QB according to Fantasy Football." Stated Coach Robertson, "Otherwise, I'm not opposed to either option. I will be sure to bring drinks and ice to this shin-dig. It will be fun. I will be interested to see how my Running back does tonight (Terrell Davis)."

"The downside," responded Coach Wagner, "is that it will be harder to snag others good players if we are allowed to keep more than one. Also, I had my eye set on some of the Cheeseheads myself."

Tune in next week for the conclusion of our absent-minded, flippant fantasy football league.
